    Sweet Tea

I admit, although I am not from the South, I am very partial to southern sweet tea. It is always a treat for me when we travel down south, to stop at MickeyD's for a sweet tea.....YUM! So, with much trial and error, and consulting with my Southern Belle friend Meg, I came up with this concoction. It satisfies my longing for the delicious nectar of the South. My second daughter is especially fond of this too.

    Southern-Style Sweet Tea

    2 cups water
6 tea bags (Luzianne is the best!)
    1 cup  sugar

    Bring water to a boil.
Pour over tea bags and steep for 3-4 minutes.
Stir in sugar until dissolved completely.
Pour into gallon pitcher. Add cold water to fill to 1 gallon.
Yields 2 cups of syrup for 1 gallon of tea

Since I now follow a no-to-low-sugar lifestyle, this can be made with Splenda in place of the sugar and it doesn't seem to make any difference in the taste. I found packets of concentrated Splenda to sweeten 1/2 gallon containers near the Kool-Aid display in my grocery store. 2 of those packets for 1 gallon of tea works well too.
